Jakarta EE 11

  • Jakarta EE Platform team has worked on the Jakarta EE 11 Retrospective
    • Issue: https://github.com/jakartaee/platform/issues/1109
    • Actions have not been flushed out from the retrospective yet
      • Actions: Should we add action items to open issues against specifications that still use the JavaTest test framework instead of Arquillian/JUnit?

Jakarta EE 12

  • M6 week 4 of 6 starts this week (M6 ends Aug 15)

  • Transactions TCK (EE) tests copied to the Transactions spec via https://github.com/jakartaee/transactions/pull/257.

  • Core Profile progress
    • CDI
      • Beta1
    • JSON-B
      • 3.1.0 M1 is now out
    • JSON-P
      • No M1 yet, but is planned
    • REST
      • No M1 yet
      • We should point out that the platform itself has a stake too, not just the implementations of the Jakarta REST specification.
      • Email asking for committers to confirm they still would like to be involved https://www.eclipse.org/lists/rest-dev/msg00395.html
        • I’ve only heard back from 2 people so far, but will reach out to who I can directly.
  • MicroProfile
    • The community (at coferences, etc) has asked why we are waiting for MicroProfile to at least get something into Jakarta EE for Config.
    • Is not having a Config API a blocker for Jakarta EE 12?
      • NoSQL would like to have it, but we believe they worked around a requirement for it.
  • Jakarta EE Future Directions
    • The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 12:00 EDT.
    • Markus Eisele will present “Automating the Hard Stuff with Agentic Assistants.”
  • JakartaOne Livestream 2026
  • Heard from a new Core Profile implementation being developed from Vidocq (main page)
